Quick SM4 Facts

What is SM4?

SM4 is a comprehensive set of resources designed to be immediately useful for General Aviation operators. It supports all four essential safety management components: Prevention, Planning, Response, and Recovery. It is set of tools and training opportunities.

SM4 is a toolbox; an information storehouse; a powerful forum for safety ideas and questions. SM4 makes it easy and painless for participants to communicate with leading safety experts and it provides easy access to unified information. It is focused on Human Factors, Safety Management systems (SMS) Accident Response and post accident organizational recovery.

What are the SM4 Component resources?

An interactive website that contains information, links, forums and (most importantly) the ability to post questions that will be answered by leading safety experts. The answers will be directed privately and the effort will encourage dialogue; real answers for real challenges.

A quarterly SM4 newsletter addressing cutting edge issues. The material is authored by key nationally recognized subject matter experts. The newsletter will be offered electronically and it will contain hyperlinks to additional resources. Global Aerospace is producing a series of fully sponsored SM4 seminars that will be presented in a different region quarterly. Each full day seminar will focus on a specific safety component. The speakers will be safety professionals who are recognized as leaders in their fields.

Who are the "Partners?"

Mr. Donald Chupp and Fireside Partners: an international leader in Corporate Emergency Response Plan (ERP) development, Crisis mitigation and organizational training and assessment for appropriate response.

Dr. Tony Kern and Convergent Performance: a full service consulting firm specializing in error reduction training, SMS, CRM, glass cockpit conversion training, mission specific checklists and safety culture audits.

Mr. Donald Baldwin and Baldwin Aviation Inc: tailored safety programs including proprietary tools (based upon core IS-BAO standards) for General Aviation flight departments. Mentoring and support services that build confidence and credibility.

How is this unique?

What makes SM4 special is the comprehensive approach to information. Effective safety programs typically integrate all four of the SM4 "parts." But operators have, until now, learned about each component separately. Through SM4 they can more effectively combine the components.

Who are we trying to reach?

General Aviation operators. More specifically, operators who use turbine powered aircraft to further their business reach and effectiveness. High quality charter operators and FBOs will also find SM4 useful.

How much does it cost?

Global Aerospace fully sponsors the SM4 initiative for its insured clients. There is no cost to the operator.

Why is it important?

SM4 will help operators meet their safety potential. SM4 will reduce the total number of general Aviation accidents. It will help save lives.

Who can use it?

There is no limitation. We welcome anyone. Professional pilots, Private pilots, maintenance professionals, owners, students of safety science, risk managers are all invited to participate.

How will customers learn about it?

Global Aerospace will launch a broad campaign to alert their customer base and inform them about the value and availability of SM4. At the heart of that Campaign is their regional underwriting team and their ability to communicate directly with customers. They will also use a series of press releases, their activity at national conventions, their "Flyer" and direct notification. Our partners will launch similar campaigns.
